An Experiment in Gratitude

Can you believe it's already August? I've decided to challenge myself. Everyday, for the month of August, I am going to post (it might be a very short post) about one thing that I am grateful for. Consider this day one:

Irish breakfast tea is my favorite. I think I like the process of preparing it just as much as the heaping dose of caffeine it delivers into my bloodstream. I've never been much for routines (only the faintest hint of structure keeps my weird little world running) but I like the ritual of filling the kettle, lighting the stove with it's clicking and whoosh. Dropping the tea bag into my waiting mug as I listen for the whistle of boiling water and how it fades as I turn off the stove. Then there is the rush of water into my mug. I let it steep. I love how thick and dark it becomes. I fumble through the drawers for a spoon. I still don't know my way around the kitchen in my summer house. I remove the tea bag and add two Splenda's. Then comes the game of, "is it too hot?" immediately followed by the equally important game, "drink it before it gets cold!"

The best part is that all of this is done in my PJ's.
