HI, Iā€™m Amie

Amie Longmire is a writer and artist. She holds a masters degree in professional writing from the University of Southern California and an undergraduate degree in Organizational Leadership. She's taught university level writing courses, published her work in magazines, started her own print company, and she's been writing for small businesses as a freelance writer and editor since 2010.

Her mother says that Amie was telling stories as soon as she could wield a crayon. Growing up, Amie was one of those tall, shy girls. The oldest of four siblings. Her family puts the "fun" in functional and sort of loves it when she writes about them. She considers this a lucky break as most essayists who write about their families end up in the witness protection program or something like it...

Amie has climbed Mt. Whitney, jumped out of a plane, and was hit by a car while crossing the street... and lived to tell about it.

In August of 2014 She made the move to Boise, Idaho and is learning to live in a city with actual seasons and snow. Currently, she is walking her dog, making art, writing a book, and is learning to ride a bike (not all at the same time) in the North End of Boise, but she still considers herself a Californian.

This website is where she collects her thoughts on the writing life, a creative life, and the power of a well-told story.
